This & That

This weekend I am baby-sitting two fun little girls on Saturday morning while their parents play tennis and then hoping to bake something for my dad for a father's day surprise. Saturday night Shane and I are heading to a birthday party and Sunday our two families plus his sister's boyfriend's family are getting together for a Father's Day brunch at.....Mother's Bistro! Kind of an odd coincidence for Father's Day, but it was the only restaurant we could find that would take such a large party on that day. I love that our families mesh together and can spend holidays together. It makes things so much easier and more fun.

Next Thursday I leave for the AT&T National Golf Tournament at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennslyvania. It will be a lot of work but a lot of fun as well.

In other news, I have gotten back to running! An injury in my posterior tibialis has prevented me from hardcore running like I did last year. After a couple of medical procedures and months of physical therapy, I have run 4 times and am up to 1.5 miles without pain. My goal is to run Hood to Coast pain free!

Where is the sun?

As many of you fellow Oregonians have noticed, the sun has had trouble peeking it's head out this year. It has rained more this June than ever in my 24 years. We still have yet to play a softball game (it is looking good for his week!) and my garden needs some sun in order to sprout the veggies I have been hoping for.

Speaking of garden, I have my own plot in the community garden near my work. I have a raised bed in which I planted vegetables. I planted squash, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and pickling cucumbers, two varieties of eggplant, butternut squash, basil and spinach. I also sprinkled some wild flower seeds in the mix and am hoping to watch them grow as well. I am going to post some pictures once things start to grow, so stay tuned!

Softball

Shane and I joined a rec softball team this year with several family members and family friends. I missed the first two games because I was traveling in Greece, and every game since then has been rained out! There has been an incredible amount of rain and storms this May in Portland. We are going to have several make-up games which has turned into double headers. Tomorrow a double header is scheduled, and the weather forecast is already predicting rain. I wonder when I will ever play softball this season!

Memorial Day Weekend

Being that I've just returned from a fabulous European vacation, a Memorial Day Weekend trip was not in the cards. I did, however, get a mini vacation. I was house-sitting and it sometimes feels like I'm on vacation when I stay in someone else's fabulous home in a nice neighborhood as opposed to staying in my apartment with roommates. I enjoyed exploring the neighborhood with the dog, a sweet old lab. Shane and I tried a new french restaurant nearby and spent a lot of time watching movies and relaxing.

On Monday we woke up early and hit the gym and then the driving range, where I practiced what I have learned in my golf lessons this Spring. I love golf but it can be a pretty frustrating sport! The evening was spent with some girlfriends drinking wine and catching up.

I went back to work today feeling refreshed and ready for a four day week! A good friend said something to me today that I found funny: "Hello Tuesday, disguised as Monday!"
Have a good Tuesday everyone!
