Kohlrabi---cooking with my CSA produce

This is Kohlrabi

It is a part of the cabbage family. I got a huge one in my CSA this week and wasn't sure what to do with it since I can't say I've ever purchased one in the past! My mom grew up on a farm and she likes to eat it raw---but I wanted to prepare it. I did try it raw and it was pretty good, nice and crunchy. But I decided to roast it.
I saw a recipe on epicurious that involved olive oil, fresh thyme and salt and pepper. I did that but then I added some bread crumbs. It was really yummy and Shane said it tasted like potatoes. I think it was a little like a potato but also kind of like an onion texture without that onion flavor. I think it tasted more like the heart of cauliflower or broccoli and had that texture when it was raw. It was good! I would love it if we got some more in our CSA soon.

Have you ever had kohlrabi?
